The Lead: In a pair of midweek matches down in Orlando, the Emerson women's tennis team fell in its pair of games. The Lions started off the day with an 8-1 setback to North Central (Ill.) and capped off the day shouldering an 8-1 loss to Trine on Wednesday.

HOW IT HAPPENED 

  • Emerson found themselves down 3-0 after being swept in its doubles matches. 

 

  • Emerson notched a win in its fourth singles match, but shouldered losses in the remaining five games.
    • #1: Flores-Barber fell to Hougland: 0-6, 0-6
    • #2: Woodbury was defeated in two sets by Sawyer: 2-6, 2-6
    • #3: Oglensky lost to Jante: 4-6, 1-6
    • #4: Nagle defeated House: 6-3, 6-3
    • #5: Burns dropped two sets to Gallagher: 2-6, 0-6
    • #6 Skeeles was blanked by Yaitova Spiegel: 0-6, 0-6

 

MATCH TWO - Trine 8, Emerson 1

HOW IT HAPPENED 

  • Emerson fell in all three doubles matches and were down 0-3 going into the singles games. 
    • Flores-Barber and Nagle were beat by Ashley Spirison and Ellie Cole: 8-1
    • Burns and Skeeles fell to Andrea Jordan and Eva Morales: 0-8
    • Oglensky and Guo Ao lost to Trista Savage and Katie Simon: 1-8

 

  • The Lions picked up a point in a third singles win, but were topped in the remaining five games.
    • #1: Flores-Barber fell to Spirison: 0-6, 0-6 
    • #2: Oglensky lost to Camille Lozier: 0-6, 0-6
    • #3: Nagle defeated Morales: 6-2, 6-4
    • #4: Burns fell to Kyra Braun: 3-6, 4-6
    • #5: Skeeles lost to Cole: 1-6, 0-6
    • #6: Ao lost to Savage: 1-6, 0-6
