The Lead: The Emerson women's tennis team continued on with spring break play in an early match where they were topped, 7-2, by the Wartburg Knights on Monday morning in Orlando.

#1: Eliana Flores-Barber
#2: Annie Woodbury


MATCH NOTES

  • Flores picked up a singles victory in straight sets and Woodbury followed in the second singles match, picking up the win in three sets.  


HOW IT HAPPENED 

  • Emerson found themselves down 3-0 after being swept in its doubles matches. 
    • Madison Overmann and Sydney Rottinghaus topped the number one pairing of Woodbury and Sophie Oglansky, 8-4. 
    • In the number two doubles pairing, Flores-Barber and Thea Nagle shouldered the 8-1 setback. 
    • Cassie Burns and Sarah Skeeles dropped the third doubles match, falling to Lauren O'Brian and Rachel Zittergruen, 8-2. 
  • Emerson was able to picked up wins in the top two singles matches, but fell in its final four games. 
    • #1: Flores-Barber defeated Overmann: 6-1, 6-3. 
    • #2: Woodbury battled to a three-set victory over Rottinghaus: 7-6 (2-0), 2-6, 10-2.
    • #3: Oglansky fell to O'Brian: 7-6, 0-6. 
    • #4: Nagle lost to Fox: 3-6, 0-6.
    • #5: Olivia Phillips beat Burns: 2-6, 3-6. 
    • #6: Skeels fell in the final singles match: 6-3, 0-6, 8-10.
