The Lead: With a team high 16 points  from Sam Boyle, the Emerson Lions fell to the Babson Beavers with a final score of 80-56, falling to 2-2 in conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED 

  • Emerson and Babson opened up the game trading baskets, with the Lions taking a one point lead at 8-7 on an Ashley Toner (Barneget, N.J. three pointer at 5:50 of the first quarter.  Babson went on a 14-2 run from here, taking a 21-10 lead.  Two Boyle free throws coupled with a layup gave the Lions a 4-0 run to close out the first quarter, cutting the lead to 21-14 at the first break.
  • The second quarter saw the Lions and Beavers trade baskets in the opening portion, but Babson went on a 9-2 run to take a second double digit lead at 25-20.  Emerson battled to try to cut the lead going into halftime, but was unable to make a dent want went into the half trailing 39-23.
  • Babson opened up the quarter looking to extend their lead, but the Lions kept the Babson lead where it was for the majority of the frame.   The Lions cut the lead 15 at 52-37 on a Davey jump shot with two minutes remaining in the frame.  Babson closed out the quarter on a 7-2 run, taking a 19 point lead into the fourth quarter at 58-39.
  • Babson extended their lead to 23 at 71-48 with just over three minutes remaining in the game.  The Lions connected on three straight three pointers, two from Foultz and one from Chelsea Gibbons (Foxborough, Mass.), but only brought the lead down to 20.  Babson closed out the game, with the Lions falling by 24 at 80-56.
