Women’s Basketball Takes Down Lasell For Second Straight Win

The Lead: The Emerson Women's basketball team welcomed the Lasell Lasers to the Brown & Plofker Gym on Tuesday night, leaving with a victory over the GNAC school 60-48.  Rachel Davey did it all for the Lions, posting a 11 points, 8 rebounds, and 8 assist night.

  • Emerson jumped out to an early five point lead behind a jumper from Boyle and Davey's first three pointer of the night.  Lasell cut the lead to one before the Lions extended it to six at 12-6 with just under four minutes remaining in the first frame. Lasell closed out the quarter on a 4-0 run to cut the Lions' lead to two after one.
  • After a Davey three pointer to start the second quarter, Lasell went on a 6-0 run to take their first lead of the game at 16.  The Lions and Lasers traded points throughout the rest of the second quarter, and Emerson went into half down two at 25-23.
  • In the third, the Lions came out firing opening up the half on a 15-3 run to take a 10 point lead behind a pair of Toner three pointers and three Boyle jumpers.  The lions opened up their biggest lead of the game in the third to 15, but Lasell was able to cut the lead to twelve at 46-34 after three quarters.
  • The Lions defense held up in the fourth quarter, only allowing 14 points over the final quater.  The Lions scored 14 points themselves, and closed out the game with a 12 point victory over the Lasers.



Emerson gets back in action on Saturday in their final home game of 2019, when they take on the Johnson & Wales Wildcats on Saturday at 1:00pm.
