The Lead: Despite strong offensive performances in two of three games, the Emerson Lions softball team dropped a trio of games to St. John Fisher over the past two days, losing two by one run.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • TEmerson struck first on the top of the first inning with Mary Kuzkowski driving home Lexi Semanchik on a single.  The Cardinals scored three runs in the bottom of the fraeme to take a 3-1 lead.
  • After Cloonan and Mallory Shofi reached base, Micaela Dix hit a three-run home run to restore Emerson's one run lead at 4-3. The Lions kept scoring in the second, and Maddie Tomich hit a second three run home run in the inning for the Lions, giving Emerson a six-run lead at 9-3.
  • Both teams scored one run in the third inning, with Kreger homering for the Cardinals and Pratt driving home Dix on a double.
  • Emerson led by five at 10-5, but the Cardinals scored one run in the fourth and four in the sixth inning to tie the score at 10 each. 
  • Emerson and St. John's Fisher played into the ninth inning, with a Trotman single bringing home Emma Smith to secure the victory for the Cardinals.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Emerson scored first in the second game, this time Kuczkowski reached on an error that brought home Semanchik in the top of the third.  Tomich singled to right field, driving in Pratt and Kuczkowski later in the inning to give the Lions a 3-0 lead.
  • The Cardinals score four in the bottom of the frame, headlined by a two BRI single from Kreger that put the Lions behind 4-3. St. John's Fisher tacked on two more in the bottom of the fourth inning, with Abby Flakus driving home Trotman for the second run in the frame.
  • A Morgan Mitchell single in the top of the sixth drove home Tomich and cut the lead to two, but the Cardinals canceled out the run in the bottom of the frame.
  • Calli Pratt drove home Semanchik in the top of the seventh to cut the lead to two.  Follow pratt, Lindsey Lowe drove in Kuczkowski and Pratt on a single to left field to knot the game at seven.
  • Flakus singled in the bottom half of the inning to send Maddie Kildonas to the plate, giving the Cardinals the 8-7 victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • St John Fisher struck first in the top of the first inning, with Troman scoring on an error followed by Kreger driving home Marcera.
  • The Cardinals added one more run in the top of the second to take a 3-0 lead.
  • Emerson scored their lone run in the bottom of the second frame on a Shofi single that drove home Tomich.
  • The Cardinals added two more runs in the top of the fourth, and took the game 5-1.
