The Lead: Behind 9 Kills from from Samuel Willinger and five service aces from Josh Elliot, the Emerson Lions Men's Volleyball Team defeated the Dean Bulldogs for the first victory of the season in their home opener.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Emerson came out strong in the first set, scoring the first five points, and nine of the first twelve with kills from Willinger, Matt Connolly, Elliot, and Gray. Elliot took the serve and Emerson rattled off seven straight points before four service aces from the sophomore. Dean called a timeout with the score at 15-4 Lions. Emerson took a commanding 19-6 lead, and despite a Dean run, the Lions closed out the set 25-14.
- The second set saw the Lions jump out to a 5-1 lead behind the serve of Elliot. Dean made a small run to but the lead to two, but Emerson extended their lead back to six on a Danny Darress kill at 13-7. The Lions maintained their lead throughout the second trame, closing out the Bulldogs on four straight points, taking the set 21-16.
- The third set was much more contested, with the Bulldogs and Lions being tied multiple times. Emerson opened up their biggest lead of the set at 17-12, before the Bulldogs scored the next five points to know the game at 17. The game was tied twice more, at 19 and 20, before the Lions rattled off four straight points, and eventually winning the set 25-22 on a Willinger kill.
- Emerson gets back in action on Friday night, welcoming MIT to the Brown & Plofker Gym for a 7:00pm start.
