The Lead: The Emerson men's soccer team were unable to produce any goals as the Coast Guard knocked in two first half nets withe Lions shouldering a 2-0 setback in NEWMAC play on Saturday afternoon at Rotch Field.



  • Coast outshot Emerson, 14-5, with the 5-1 advantage on corner kicks. 
  • Emerson committed a total of 12 infractions, while Coast Guard committed 13. 
  • Sophomore Gavin Faucette (Oakland, Calif.), freshmen John Manocchia (Narraganset, R.I.) and Galileo Mondol and senior Warren Backman (Spring Hill, Fl.) all recorded one shot for Emerson. 
  • Senior keeper Lucas Fischer (Atlanta, Ga.) came away with six saves and allowed a pair of goals on eight shot attempts in 90 minutes between the pipes for the Lions. 
  • Gio Ottomanelli and Tyler Furry each notched goals for Coast Guard, while Patrick Palermo-Re and Ryan Dandan were both credited with assists. 
  • In net for the Bears was Dakota Harich, who made one save in the win. 



  • Emerson found themselves two goals entertain halftime and were outshot, 7-3, by Coast Guard through the opening 45 minutes. 
  • Coast Guard claimed an early 1-0 lead just five minutes into the first half after Furry collected Palmero-Re's corner and headed the ball over the reach of Fischer. 
  • The Bears registered its second goal of the half off a feed from Dandan in the middle, who sent ball back to Ottomanelli in the left wing and flicked ball into the lower righthand side of the net at the 26th minute mark.
  • Neither Emerson nor Coast Guard were able to find the back of the net within the second half with the Bears holding the score, 2-0.  



  • Emerson faces off against Lesley on Wednesday, September 27 in the 12th Annual Charles River Cup at 6:00 p.m. 
  • Coast Guard embarks in non conference play on Wednesday, September 27 against Mitchell at 6:00 p.m.
