McGrath & Celotto Sweep NEWMAC Men's Lacrosse Players of the Week

WESTWOOD, Mass. - Today, May 2nd, the NEWMAC (New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference) offices announced their weekly awards for the week of competition ending on May 1st. Emerson men's lacrosse seniors, Skyler Celotto and Malcolm McGrath, swept the Men's Lacrosse Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week awards. This the second honor for McGrath and first for Celotto.

SKYLER CELOTTO - Offensive Player of the Week

Celotto found the back of the net five times on Saturday afternoon in a season-deciding game down at Coast Guard. Four of Celotto's give goals either leveled the score or gave Emerson the lead. The Lions leaned on the senior's play as he helped propel Emerson to their first NEWMAC playoff appearance since joining the conference in 2013. His five goals pushed him to become the single-season goals record holder, as well as breaking the program's all-time scoring record.

MALCOLM MCGRATH - Defensive Player of the Week

McGrath, named Defensive POTW for the second time this season, stepped up in a big way in Saturday's season-deciding victory at Coast Guard. In a back-and-forth matchup with the Bears with the season on the line, McGrath came away with 16 saves on 29 shots faced, including a save with :38 seconds remaining in regulation that would have tied the game.
