The Lead: Led By Junior Jared Brush, the Lions dropped their final game of the season against the Buccaneers of Mass. Maritime in a NEWMAC Matchup at Rotch Field.

BY THE NUMBERS

  • Austin DiPietro (Clermont, Fla.) dominated the faceoff circle, winning 21 of the 24 faceoffs he took on Saturday.
  • Cameron Radenberg (Los Angeles, Calif.) had two goals and an assist for the Lions while Jared Brush (Detroit, Mich.) had four goals.
  • Bailey Kennedy (Swampscott, Mass.) saved 15 of the 25 shots he faced.
  • Andre Lucas led the Buccaneers with a hat trick of his own.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • On their senior day, Emerson jumped out to an early 3-0 lead after the first quarter.  Jared Brush scored a hat-trick of his own in the first quarter, headlined by a behind the back shot which found the back of the net from a slick pass by Austin Franklin (Dartmouth, Mass.).
  • The only goal in the second quarter came from Edward Powers of Mass. Maritime, leading to a 3-1 lead for Emerson heading into halftime.
  • Austin Franklin scored the first goal out of halftime and Jared Brush added another with two minutes left in the quarter.  Mass Maritime scored two goals inbetween the two Emerson goals, and added one with eleven seconds left in the third quarter. 
  • Emerson led 5-4 after three quarters.
  • Emerson started the quarter on a 4-1 run to give the Lions a 9-5 lead with just over 10 minutes left in the game.
  • Mass Martime regulation the game on a 4-0 run and scored the game tying goal with 44 seconds left in regulation.
  • In overtime, the Lions and Buccaneers traded attempts, with both making game saving plays to keep game going.
  • With five seconds left in the game, Franklin Ragge fired a shot which found the back of the net and giving the Buccaneers the victory.

UP NEXT

  • Both the Lions and Buccaneers finished the season outside of playoff seeding for the NEWMAC Championships, and saw their seasons end on Saturday.
