BOSTON, Mass.
- Off the brink of a 2020 opening 87-81 overtime victory over No. 17 Nichols this past Thursday, the Emerson men's basketball team carry momentum entering NEWMAC competition starting on Wednesday afternoon when the Lions host Coast Guard at 2:00 p.m.. On Saturday, the Purple trek to Worcester for its first road NEWMAC tilt at Clark at 1:00 p.m. 


A LOOK BACK 

  • Emerson turned the page to 2020 in stunning fashion this past Thursday night as the Lions picked up an 87-81 overtime victory over No. 17 Nichols, which marked the third time the Purple have topped a ranked opponent
  • The sophomores led the way in the win with Zach Waterhouse (Hampton, N.H.) pacing Emerson with a season high 25 points followed by a season best 21 points and 16 rebounds from Jarred Houston (Norwood, Mass.) and saw Nate Martin (Washington D.C.) round out the pack with 20 points

WATERHOUSE & HOUSTON SWEEP NEWMAC MEN'S BASKETBALL WEEKLY AWARDS 

  • Waterhouse and Houston were heavy contributors in Emerson's overtime victory over No. 17 Nichols this past Thursday, which earned the Lions a sweep over the NEWMAC Men's Basketball weekly awards. 
  • Waterhouse led Emerson in the scoring column with a season high 25 points and connected on 10-of-18 from the floor alongside four boards, one assist and one steal. 
  • Houston commanded the defensive end for the Lions and registered a double-double of 21 points and 16 rebounds to go with three blocked shots.
