Women's Basketball Falls To WPI

BOSTON, Mass. - The Emerson women’s basketball team was led by a team-best 16 points from junior Olivia Deslauriers followed by a pair of double-figure showings from senior Carla Pelino and junior Ella Bushee in the Lions’ 83-63 setback to WPI on Saturday afternoon.

Men's Basketball's Jarred Houston Named To Top 100 Bevo Francis Watchlist

ATLANTA, Ga. - On Tuesday, January 17th, Small College Basketball released its first watchlist for the Top 100 Bevo Francis Award for the 2022-23 campaign. The first list features 100 players from Division II, Division III, NAIA, USCAA, and NCCAA men's basketball. Emerson men's basketball graduate center, Jarred Houston, was selected to the Top 100 watchlist and is the lone NEWMAC student-athlete represented on the list.

BOSTON, Mass. - Paced by junior Ella Bushee’s 14 points, four members of the Emerson women’s basketball team tallied double figures to boost the Lions to their second NEWMAC win of the season in a 63-57 victory over Wellesley on Wednesday night.

SPRINGFIELD, Mass-Led by Jarred Houston, the Emerson Men’s Basketball team saw four players with double digit points as they defeated NEWMAC opponent Springfield by a score of 74-66 on Wednesday evening at Blake Arena.

BOSTON, Mass. - Three’s were the name of the game for the Emerson men’s basketball team as senior James Beckwith drained five three’s for 22 points and got help from three more double-figure showings in Emerson’s dominant 89-58 win over MIT on Saturday afternoon.

BOSTON, Mass. - Graduates Nate Martin and Jarred Houston registered a combined 54 points as the Emerson men’s basketball team got back in the win column and locked down the tight 89-86 NEWMAC victory over Wheaton (Mass.) on Wednesday night at Brown & Plofker Gym.

BOSTON, Mass. - Junior Ella Bushee had an 11-point showing and senior Carla Pelino pulled down a team-best 10 boards for the Emerson women’s basketball, but the Lions saw their three-game win streak snapped at the hands of a 59-44 setback to Wheaton (Mass.) on Wednesday night.

25-Year Anniversary Top Moment: 2013-14 NEWMAC Expansion and Growth

WESTWOOD, Mass. - At the inception of the NEWMAC in 1998, the conference included 10 founding members- Babson College, Clark University, U.S Coast Guard Academy, MIT, Mount Holyoke College, Smith College, Springfield College, Wellesley College, Wheaton College, and WPI. It wasn't until 15 years later that the NEWMAC would expand beyond its founding 10 members, as Emerson College became the 11th core member of the conference on July 1, 2013.

WESTWOOD, Mass. - The New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) announced their weekly Athletes of the Week for competition ending on January 15th with representation from both men's and women's basketball teams. For the women, senior Chelsea Gibbons snagged Offensive Athlete of the Week. On the men's side, graduate Jarred Houston was tabbed Defensive Athlete of the Week for the second time this season.
