Women's Tennis Topples Emmanuel 6-3
WATERTOWN, Mass. – The 2012 Emerson Women's Tennis campaign rolled on Saturday afternoon with savannah Mosser pushing her singles winning streak to 17 as the Lions topped the Emmanuel Saints 6-3. With the win, Emerson improves to 6-3 overall and 5-2 in GNAC play while Emmanuel drops to 6-6 on the year and 3-2 in conference action.
Doubles looked to come down to the deciding point as Natalie Nicolas and Alcia Pellegrin struck first, taking an 8-1 win in the number two spot before Emmanuel evened it up with Jenny Konecik and Katrina Gaddis answering with an 8-1 win of their own.
In the number one spot though, it was Lacey Russell and Savannah Mosser who stepped up though as they moved to 9-0 on the season with an 8-3 win over Amanda Woznicki and Alex Hadlock to head into singles up 2-1.
Singles action saw the Lions come out ready for action though as Savannah Mosser made quick work of her opponent in the two spot with a 6-0, 6-1 win to move her winning streak to 17, dating back to September 28, 2011. The Saints answered in the five spot with Jenni Hewes taking a 6-2, 6-0 win to keep it close.
EC clinched the win with the next two singles wins though as Alicia Pellegrin win 6-3, 6-1 in the three spot before Lacey Russell closed it out with a 6-4, 6-2 win at number one for their fifth point. Emmanuel's Jenny Konecik added the final point for the Saints before Jana Winfield closed it out with one final point for the Lions.
Next up the Lions travel to Paxon, Mass. to take on the Anna Maria AMCATS this Monday for a 3 p.m. match.
