Kanika Misra Scores Four As Women's Lacross Pushes Winning Streak To Three Over USJ

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – Kanika Misra's four goals and an assist led the way Wednesday afternoon as the Emerson Women's Lacrosse Team stretched their winning streak to three with an 18-5 win over USJ. With the win EC moves to 5-4 on the year and 2-1 in conference play a USJ drops to 2-3 overall and 1-2 in the GNAC.

The first half saw the Lions go off on offense as they put up 15 shots and 11 goals in the half. EC's Libby Murphy got the party started for the Lions with a free position goal that sparked a spree of 10 unanswered goals for the Lions.

In the half, Murphy, Tayllar Righini and Tracie Lombardo scored two each while Kanika Misra dropped three on the Blue Jays as Alex Corrado and Krystie Zoch  topped it all off with one each to cruise into the half up 11-1.

The Lions didn't let up in the second half either, dropping 11 shots on the Blue Jays, this time with seven resulting in goals.

The Lions allowed their second goal of the game two minutes in, but were undeterred as they avenged it sevenfold with Krystie Zoch starting it off for EC in the fourth minute. Tracie Lombardo followed up going back-to-back for goals  to make it 14-2 before Marlee Galper found Tayllar Righini to make it 15-2.

USJ put a little more fire in it the next nine minutes though as they scored three straight goals that Emerson wasn't about to let slide as they answered them with three different Lions put up goals to end the game 18-5.

Emerson returns home for their next match up as they set to face Curry Friday night. Game time is set for 7 p.m. in Boston at Rotch Field.
