Emily Saeger Records Career First Shutout In 17-0 Win Over Wheelock

BOSTON, Mass. – A career-first shut out for Emily Saeger combined with Tracie Lombardo's five goals on the day highlighted the Emerson Women's Lacrosse 17-0 win over the Wheelock Wildcats Tuesday night in Boston. With the win the Lions move to 6-5 on the year while Wheelock drops to 0-11.

The first half saw the Lions tear it up with 17 shots peppered at the Wildcat defense with ten of them finding a home Emily Saeger was locked in as well for the Lions as she took care of Wheelock's nine shots in the half.

On offense Kayla Dowd opened up the can on the Wildcats, taking a pass from Macy Day which she deposited for the first goal of the game. The goal sparked her fellow Lions to join in the hunt as Sophia Mitropoulos, Mackenzie Johnson and Tracie Lombardo all rallied up after for three more quick goals before Dowd pocketed her second on the day. Before the half came to a close, Dowd, Tracie Lombardo, Kanika Misra and Mackenzie Johnson had all put up at least two goals apiece to give EC the 10-0 lead at the break.

Break was exactly what the Lions didn't do though as they kept at it in the second half with Kayla Dowd yet again striking first with an early free position shot before EC went on another scoring melee in the half as Tracie Lombardo was on her A game, pocketing three more before time expired as the Lions rolled off with the 17-0 win.

The Lions will host their final regular season game this Saturday as the Saint Joe's (CT) Blue Jays come to town for a noon time start in Boston at Rotch Field.
