Men's and Women's XC Perform Well at NEWMAC Championships

The Emerson Men's and Women's Cross Country Teams ran strong at the New England Women's And Men's Athletic Conference Championships on Saturday.  The meet was hosted in Northampton, Mass. by fellow NEWMAC member Smith College.

The Men's race saw MIT take five of the first six placings, marking the championship for the Engineers.  The Lions were paced by Joey MacNeil, who ran a 30:27 and posted a 76th overall finish.  Phillippe Legagneur was close behind MacNeil.  Legagneur finished in 88th overall with a time of 33:04.  Kevin Serrano and Michel Cerullo finished third and fourth as a team for Emerson.   Serrano finished 94th with a time of 33:42 and Cerullo finished 97th coming in just 40 seconds after Serrano with a time of 34:24. Finishing up for Emerson was Tyler Ericson, who came in 104th with a time of 38:10.

The Women's race also saw MIT take five of the top six spots and earned the championship.  Emerson was paced by Senior Chelsea Swift, who finished 65th overall with a time of 21:31.  Madison Lynch finished just over a minute behind Swift in 104th place with a time of 22:44.  Taylor Ranney and Jessica Mann finished within three second of eachother.  Ranney finished in 125th with a time of 23:21 and Mann finished in 127th with a time of 23:24.  Jeannette Mooney and Sara Crocco were not far behind the Ranney and Mann.  Mooney came in 138th with a time of 24:19 and Crocco came in 145th with a time of 25:20.  Carolyn Mooney finished just behind Crocco in 146th with a time of 28:20.
